‘ALL ABOARD’ …inspired by their upcoming screenings of the Darjeeling Limited at the Roxy they’ve dedicated this week’s Sunday Cinema to the subject of trains. The resulting line up seems like a fine way to while away a lazy Sunday afternoon (if you’re lucky enough to have one spare)
As usual there are three films lined for the delightful fee of 3 quid, so even if the whole afternoon isn’t for you, even just catching one still makes for cheap Sunday film fun.
Kicking of the line up is Buster Keaton’s silent (not that I think he ever did a talky?) comedy The General. For me this is definitely the highlight of the afternoon as its the only one I’ve not caught before, and have heard nothing but good things (even that it is one of the finest ever comedy films) plus I’ve always been more of a Keaton girl than a Chaplin.
Following after is Hitchcock’s Strangers of a Train and the ‘not quite about trains, but features trains in the title’ British classic Trainspotting.
Now if these three locomotive beauties don’t float your boat then fear not as the wonder that is imdb’s keyword search allows me to point you in the direction of the definitive list of films featuring trains.
Anyway back to the event- details…
