With photo shoots requiring the same elaborate production values and styling of a film shoot, you’d surely be forgiven for mistaking the work of New York photographer Gregory Crewdson’s as stills from a Lynch/ Cronenberg-esque upcoming feature…(images from his upcoming exhibition certainly caught me off guard whilst browsing the first few pages of Sight and Sound this month)
Often eerie and gothic in tone and setting Crewdson’s photos contain unusual and rich visual narratives that captivate and fuel an imaginative exploration by their viewer.
The exhibition runs 23rd of April - 24th of May. I’m going to try to sneak my way into the opening and will report back on my findings. Details…
