Knitting Argento & Švankmajer

Co-operative Designs

(Spotted in today’s Metro during my morning commute). Presenting the Autumn ‘08 Knitwear collection from Co-operative Designs  (London based knitwear label headed up by Annalisa Dunn and Dorothee Hagemann) that were inspired by the film’s of Dario Argento and Jan Švankmajer. As you’d imagine muses such as these won’t give way to your everyday bobble hats & scarves, but looking over the creations they are decidedly less unsettling than I would have expected (no creepy string puppets here, just lots of Llamas).

This got me thinking of what other horror/experimental inspired knitting I’d be keen to see? Takashi Miike, Robert Wiene, Kubrick, any others??? Then again I’m a bit scared by the possibility of the outcome, best just stick to Walt Disney for me.

Although its not London, if you happen to be in Paris between 2-7th of October then Co-operative Design’s will be showcasing their work here, British Fashion Council Showroom, Art Core Gallery, 40 Rue de Richelieu, 75001 Paris. Visit their site here for more info and to look at their further knitted loveliness.
