“Bracing for KAPOW! headlines tomorrow re. Batman, Batmum and Batsis” (Sizemore).
I don’t know whether to be disappointed or reaffirmed yesterdays complete lack of decent Batman/ Bale headlines (although I wasn’t able to catch The Sun). Instead the papers from what I’ve seen seem content as simply labelling Bale as Batman. Surely the tabloid’s inter office e-mails/ text messages must be fit to bursting with puns of unfulfilled potential.
Although not wanting to undermine the possible severity of the situation I can’t help thinking that Warner Brothers must be quietly revelling in the ‘money couldn’t buy publicity’ as headlines across the UK 2 days before the release announce ‘Police Arrest Batman’, ‘Batman Out on Bail’. Twinned with Heath Ledger’s death the whole release build up is beginning to feel like we’ve passed through the third wall or are involved in a high concept, incredibly un-PC and rather morbid ARG PR stunt.
On another note the Daily Mirror headline today read ” Jeramy Kyle Cheat’s Death”, a statement I beg to dither with being of the opinion that Jeramy Kyle is the anti christ and thus immortal and impervious to harm.
